Minor sexually abused in Jalpaiguri

A sexual abuse charge involving a minor girl has triggered panic in Jalpaiguri town. An FIR has been lodged at the Mainaguri Police station. Police probe has started, though the accused has not been arrested so far.

It has been learnt from police sources that one Mono Roy (22), a resident of the South Madhav danga Gram Panchayat, Mainaguri, sexually abused his neighbour, Sikha Roy (17), a minor, on Navami. He reportedly assured the girl that he would be marrying her. But, immediately after sexually abusing the girl, he fled. The girl, in a fit of panic, informed her parents about the incident next morning. The victim's father Mr Pran Prasad Roy (50) then went to the residence of Mono and asked his father to arrange for the marriage as soon as possible. But the boy's father denied his son's association in the incident and refused to comply with the request made by the girl's father.
