Marjina Biwi killed her husband Abdul Mia slitting his throat on November 19 to save herself from domestic violence at Shastrinagar under Bhaktinagar police station in Jalpaiguri district.
Tension gripped the locality after neighbours noticed the body of Abdul Mia lying in a pool of blood. The couple had quarreled in the morning, the neighbours said. The neighbours informed the police of the incident and the police have arrested Marjina. “Marjina has admitted of the crime. According to her she killed her husband to save herself from regular domestic violence. She has alleged that her husband used to torture her physically,” said the OC of Bhaktinagar police station Mr Rajen Chettry.The incident has shocked the two daughters of the affected family. One is three years old and the other is two years old. Marjina also has an infant to take care of. Friends and relatives have provided shelter to the children.
